About JS Designs

JS Designs is an Okanagan-based creative design studio founded in 2004 by me, Jennifer Simpson. The first creation to emerge from JS Designs was the humorous product line of Phallus Cozies showcased here, which was part of my Bachelor of Fine Arts final exhibit at UBC Okanagan in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.
Hopelessly Devoted
After creating the Phallus Cozy website and other promotional items such as posters and business cards, I realized that graphic design was what I wanted to stick with. Now I am obsessed with graphic design and dedicate my spare time studying everything related to graphic design.
What Inspires Me
Coffee. A great mocha is even better. However, it's not only the coffee that inspires me but what I find in most coffeehouses—bulletin boards. These bulletin boards are usually full of business cards posted by customers. Some of these cards are so unique and brilliantly designed; if there are multiples, that little piece of artwork is mine!
I am also inspired by the ingenuity and fresh creativity found in many websites, magazines, CD covers, advertisements, package design, produce stickers and just about everything else. My life and obsession is graphic design and I analyze every bit of graphic design I see. I study the elements that make the visual message successful, chewing apart anything that doesn’t work. The great pieces of design that I do find are stashed in file folders or pinned on my studio wall—this is where the extra special pieces are enshrined.
