Winner of the Lake Country Chamber of Commerce Telephone Directory Cover Competition! July 3, 2008
Earlier this year I entered a design competition to create the cover of the Lake Country Chamber of Commerce Telephone Directory. The theme was “life in Lake Country” and I chose a theme that honoured life, both past and present, in Lake Country. A little while after I submitted my entry and the contest closed, I received an announcement that my entry won the contest and that my design would become the cover of the 2008 directory.
I am honoured to win this competition and especially excited about winning my first design competition that I have entered since elementary school. Back in the day, my elementary school hosted a school-wide challenge to design the school mascot logo. My logo proposal won the majority of the students’ votes and to this day there are little Riverview Roadrunners tearing up a trail wherever they go, outrunning and outwitting their competitors, just like me!

New Corporate Identity Design for Scratchpad Creative Inc. May 28, 2008
I just wrapped up a design and branding project for a great new company called Scratchpad Creative Inc. and the stationery system is literally hot off the printing press. I teamed up with Scratchpad and was asked to create their brand mark, corporate identity and stationery system, website design, ad designs, report and booklet covers, and even created their trade character (the “running ink” character) from conception to illustration. There are more related projects to come, all of course with beautiful designs to follow.
Scratchpad Creative’s aim is to increase business process productivity using technology. Their current slogan is, "Great Ideas Start Here" which suggests that their company - in addition to the scratchpad or sketchbook - is also where great ideas begin. Scratchpad’s website is in the finishing stages of its build and will be available soon.

Lorem Ipsum - Dummy Text April 2 2008 How often have you designed a website or brochure mock-up for a client and because you didn’t have any text to fill the space to get an idea of what the end result will look like, you repeatedly typed, “Place text here. Place text here. Place text here…”. The problem is that this repeated text can be quite distracting and may even detract from your overall design. Here is a more appropriate way to fill that space: go to Lorem Ipsum and select how many words, sentences or paragraphs you need and it will generate dummy text for you to use. This dummy text looks more attractive and natural, and your client may even think you know Latin! How clever are you!.
